Public access to green spaces

One noteworthy initiative in Bahrain is the development of public parks and gardens. The country has invested in creating green spaces that offer recreational areas and opportunities for residents to connect with nature. For example, the Al Fateh Corniche, located in the capital city of Manama, is a popular waterfront park that provides a serene environment for walking, jogging, and enjoying outdoor activities. The park features lush greenery, seating areas, and walking paths along the coast, allowing residents and visitors to unwind and appreciate the natural beauty of Bahrain.

In addition, Karzakan woodlands hold particular significance. Located in the central part of the country, the Karzakan woodlands are a valuable natural resource and an important green space for the local community. This woodland area is characterized by its dense vegetation, including various species of trees, shrubs, and plants. The Karzakan woodlands serve as a refuge for biodiversity, providing habitats for a range of flora and fauna. It offers residents a serene environment where they can engage in recreational activities such as hiking, picnicking, and birdwatching. The woodlands also play a crucial role in enhancing air quality and mitigating the effects of urbanization, acting as a natural green lung within Bahrain’s urban landscape. Efforts to protect and preserve the Karzakan woodlands highlight Bahrain’s commitment to maintaining and expanding its green spaces for the benefit of its residents and the environment.
