Relationships with regional NGOs and government for SDG policy 

On 25 September 2018, the Community Engagement Office at Applied Science University presented by Dr Mohammad Alaa Al-Hamami, Manager of Community Engagement Office and Mr Thaer Mustafa AlRamini member of CE Office and Student Care visited the Directorate of Non-Government Organizations Support at Ministry of Labour and Social Development and meet Mrs Najwa Abdullatif Janahi Director of the Directorate of Non- Government Organizations Support, Mr Salman Mohmed AlSindi General Coordinator of Volunteering Development Center at the Directorate of Non-Government Organizations Support, and Mr Hussain AbdulQader Janahi Supervisor of Volunteering Development Center. During the meeting, Community Engagement Office and Directorate of Non-Government Organizations Support at Ministry of Labour and Social Development discussed the opportunities of cooperation between them.

On Saturday, 6 October 2018, the Community Engagement Office at Applied Science University received a delegation from the Directorate of Non-Government Organizations Support at Ministry of Labour and Social Development, included Mrs Najwa Abdullatif Janahi Director of the Directorate of Non-Government Organizations, and a number of Directorate staff.

During the visit, Prof Ghassan Aouad, President of Applied Science University, welcomed the visiting delegation, praising the role played by the Directorate of Non-Government Organizations Support. For her side, Mrs Najwa commended the efforts of the University in the various fields, including supporting civil society institutions and the community.

During the visit, a coordination meeting was held between the visiting delegation and a Group of Academic Staff of the University to discuss ways of cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The visiting delegation was briefed on the University’s infrastructure, which included Abdullah Nass Hall, laboratories and classrooms, sports hall, and training and continuous learning centre.

On Thursday, 1 November 2018, the Community Engagement Office at Applied Science University received a delegation from Bahraini Talent and Creativity Society.

During the visit, Community Engagement Office and Bahraini Talent and Creativity Society discussed the executive procedures for the activities, that were previously agreed upon between the two sides.

On Monday, 19 November 2018, the CE Office received a delegation from Lameyya Cultural Salon.

During the visit, CE Office and Lameyya Cultural Salon discussed ideas and the executive procedures for the activities that agreed upon between the two sides.

On Tuesday, 22 January 2019, CE Office at Applied Science University presented by Dr Mohammad Alaa Al-Hamami, Manager of Community Engagement Office and Mr Thaer Mustafa AlRamini, Member of Community Engagement Office and Student Care visited Information and eGovernment Authority.

During the visit, a coordination meeting held between the two sides to discuss methods of cooperation.

Within the initiatives of the Community Engagement Office at Applied Science University and in coordination with the Department of Political Science and College of Law, ASU visited the United Nation House in Manama on Tuesday, 5 February 2019.

ASU was presented by Dr Mohammad Al-Hamami, Manager of Community Engagement Office, Mr Thaer AlRamini Member of CE Office and Student Care, and a Number of Academic Staff included Dr Khaleel Ibrahim, Dr Samer AlDuros, Mrs Ghada Ihsan, Dr Rajab Ebrahem, Dr Ammar Al-Sammarraee, Dr Radwan Kharabsheh, and Students from Political Science Department and College of Law.

During the visit, Mr Samir Al-Darabi, the United Nations Information Center Director talked about UN responsibilities, roles and activities. After that, HE Mr Amin El Sharkawi, the Resident Representative of UNDP in Bahrain delivered a Lecture about Sustainable Development Goals. ASU Academic Staff and Students participated in discussions on the topics raised during the visit.

At the end of the Visit, Dr Mohammad Al-Hamami, Manager of Community Engagement Office at ASU thanked the UN House in Manama for the warm reception; he praised the role played by the UN to achieve the objectives of Sustainable Development Goals, and stressed the readiness of ASU to cooperate in supporting UN initiatives in various fields. He pointed out that the students who participated in the visit are specialised in Political Sciences and Law so that the theory is linked to the application in their study. The visiting delegation included professors of various disciplines to open the way for building cooperation frameworks between the two parties.

The Academic Staff who participated in the visit presented ideas and discussed prospects of cooperation that can be made between ASU and UN House.

On Tuesday, 19 February 2019, Community Engagement Office at Applied Science University received and met the International Organization for Child Protection (INOCPT) and a number of Heads of Associations with a speciality in the field of autism and early intervention centres and international organisations and those interested in autism.

During the meeting, CE Office and visitors discussed cooperation frameworks and finding ways to raise awareness about Autism.

During the visit, Community Engagement Office and Al-Kawther Society for Social Care discussed Methods of cooperation between them.

As part of Community Engagement Office at Applied Science University initiatives in supporting the various sectors of society; On Tuesday, 5 March 2019, Community Engagement Office at Applied Science University visited the Gulf Disability Society.

As part of the Community Engagement Office at Applied Science University initiatives to support all segments of the community, Community Engagement Office visited Enmaa Centre for Special Education on Tuesday, 12 March 2019.

On Thursday, 14 March 2019, Community Engagement Office at Applied Science University received and met a group of community service activists and Volunteers.

During the meeting, CE Office and visitors discussed the preparation for the activities that will be organised by the Office in cooperation with the International Organization for Child Protection (INOCPT) and a number of associations with a speciality in the field of childcare.

On Thursday, 28 March 2019, Prof Ghassan Aouad, President of Applied Science University received Mrs Fatima AlAli Specialist of strategic planning and projects management in the Capital Governorate. A coordination meeting was held in the President Office with the presence of Dr Mohammad Alaa Al- Hamami Manager of Community Engagement Office to discuss methods of cooperation between ASU and the Capital Governorate.

As a part of Community Engagement Office initiatives and in coordination with the Political Science Department, Applied Science University visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the visit, a presentation was made on the structure and mechanism of some departments in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Mr Mohammed Salmin, Advisor to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mrs Mona Abbas Mahmoud Radhi, Director of the Afro- Asian Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Also, the methods of cooperation have been discussed.

On Sunday, 5 May 2019, Prof Ghassan Fouad Aouad, President of Applied Science University with the presence of Dr Mohammad Alaa Al-Hamami, Manager of Community Engagement Office received a delegation from Bahraini Talent and Creativity Society. The visiting delegation included Mrs Huda AlKhalidi Chairman of Board of Directors, Mrs Zain AlHasan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr Salman AlSendi Secretary of the Society, and Mr Abdullah AlDosary Member of the Society.

At the beginning of the visit, Prof Ghassan welcomed the visiting delegation and appreciated Bahraini Talent and Creativity Society activities. The visiting delegation thanked ASU for supporting Bahrain Debates Project of Bahraini Talent and Creativity Society. This support comes as a part of the CE Office at ASU Initiatives to support and serve the community.

Afterwards, a meeting was held to discuss future cooperation between ASU and Bahraini Talent and Creativity Society.

On December 1st, 2019, the Community Engagement Office at Applied Science University represented by Dr Mohammad Alaa Al-Hamami, Office Manager received a delegation from the Royal Charity Organisation, which included Mr Alaa Yousef Boudlama Head of Programmes and Activities and Mrs Tuqa Hani El Sayed Charity and Humanitarian Projects Specialist. A meeting was held with the presence of Dr Mohamed Soltan, Acting Head of Department of Design and Arts, Mohammad Azzam, Manager of the VP Office for Administration, Finance and Community Engagement, to discuss the future events that are hoped to be held and which is the culmination of the memorandum of understanding signed between Applied Science University and Royal Charity Organisation.

On December 5th, 2019, Applied Science University hosted a delegation from Al Eker Charitable Society represented by the Chairman Mr Ahmed Arafat, and Mr Mohammed Al-Mughni, Head of Public Relations Committee. The visiting delegation held a meeting to discuss cooperation between the two parties in the areas of community Engagement. The meeting was attended by Mr Abdulla Al- Khaja, Director of Administration and Finance Directorate and President Advisor for Follow-up Affairs, Dr Mohammad Alaa Al-Hamami, Manager of Community Engagement Office, Mr Mohammed Al-Najjar, Manager of Student Services Office at Deanship of Student Affairs, Mr Mohammad Nassar, Assistant Director of Administration and Finance Directorate, and Mr Hood Sadiq, Administrative Staff at Deanship of Student Affairs.

On January 15th, 2020, the Community Engagement Office at Applied Science University represented by Dr Mohammad Alaa Al-Hamami, Manager of the Office, received a delegation from Ayadi Relief (Bahraini Relief Youth-Led Organisation).

The Visiting Delegation included Mrs Shaikha Showaiter, General Manager, and Mrs Dalal Felaifel, Projects Manager in the Organisation. A meeting was held with the presence of Dr Mohammed Yousif, Vice President for Administration, Finance and Community Engagement, Mr Abdulla Al-Khaja, Director of Administration and Finance Directorate and President Advisor for Follow-up Affairs, Mr Mohammad Azzam, Manager of the VP Office for Administration, Finance and Community Engagement, and Mr Mohammad Nassar, Assistant Director of Administration and Finance Directorate to discuss ways of cooperation.

As a part of the Community Engagement Office at Applied Science University Initiatives, on January 22nd, 2020, a delegation from Friendship Society for the Blind represented by Mr Maitham Madan, spokesperson for the Friendship Society for the Blind visited ASU.

During the visit, some coordination meetings were held with Professor Ghassan Aouad, the University President, Dr Mohammed Yousif, VP for Administration, Finance and Community Engagement, Dr Mohammad Alaa Al-Hamami, Manager of Community Engagement Office and Associate Professor in Management Information Systems Department, Dr Bishir Mhd-Mowafak, Associate Professor in Department of Accounting and Finance, Dr Ibrahim Abu AlSondos, Assistant Professor in Management Information Systems Department, Dr Ammar Esam Alsammarraee, Assistant Professor in Department of Accounting and Finance, Mr Nizar Y.A. Naim, Lecturer in Department of Accounting and Finance, Mr Mohammad Azzam, Manager of the VP Office for Administration, Finance and Community Engagement, and some Academic and Administrative Staff.

These meetings come to complement the ongoing cooperation between Applied Science University and Friendship Society for the Blind to achieve the mission and strategic goals in relation to serving the Community and all its Groups.

On February 20th, 2020, Professor Ghassan Aouad, the University President, received in his Office the Bahraini Social Activist, Mr Yaqoob Mubarak, and Mr Gilberto Rosas from Mexico.

The visit comes as part of the initiatives conducted by Community Engagement Office, in honour of Mr Yaqoob Mubarak’s voluntary efforts to represent the Kingdom in the Republic of Peru and his humanitarian efforts in reflecting the bright image of the Kingdom in international forums.

Dr Mohammad Alaa Al-Hamami attended the meeting, Manager of Community Engagement Office, Mrs Ruqaya Mohsin, Director of Marketing and Public Relations, and the Bahraini Social Activist Mrs Maysa AlSaati.

The Shura Council, represented by Councilor Osama Ahmed Al Asfour, the Secretary-General of Shura Council, and Applied Science University, represented by Prof Ghassan Fouad Aouad, President of the University, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on December 29th, 2020. The MOU aims to organise and hold training programmes and workshops for employees of the Secretary-General of Shura Council, along with providing Advisory Engagements and achieving mutual scientific collaboration and knowledge between the two parties.

The signing was attended by Dr Mohammad Youssif Ahmed, Vice President of Administration, Finance and Community Engagement, Mrs Ruqayya Mohsen, Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Mr Abdullah Al Khaja, Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs, and Dr Mohammad Al Hammami, Office Manager of Community Engagement.

Applied Science University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the At’aa Individual Social Responsibility Society on 17th March, 2022. The University’s signing of the Memorandum of Understanding comes to achieve its strategic goals, including community partnership and Engagement. ASU was represented by Professor Ghassan Aouad, President of the University, and At’aa Individual Social Responsibility Society was represented by Dr Hala Jamal, President of At’aa Individual Social Responsibility Society. The ceremony was held in Abdullah Nass hall with the attendance of Senior Management of both sides.

On 15th May, 2022, the ASU Community Engagement Office received a delegation from the Al Aker Charitable Society. The delegation included Mr Muhammad Al Mughni, President of the Society, Mrs Fatima Aqeel, Vice President of the Society, and Mr Muhammad Abdullah, Vice President of the Social Committee.

A Coordination Meeting was held with the visiting delegation, in the presence of Dr Mohammad Al-Hamami, Manager of Community Engagement Office and Associate Professor in Department of Management Information Systems, Mr Mohammed Alnajjar, Office Manager of Student Services, Dr Wael Abdulhafeez, Head of Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering, and Dr Hamdy Mahmoud, Acting Head of Internship Unit in College of Engineering, to discuss the future joint activities to be implemented.

On 8th June, 2022, a delegation from the Department of Management Information Systems of Applied Science University represented by Ahmed Shatat, Head of Department of Management Information Systems, Dr Abdallah Shatat, Assistant Professor and BMIS Program Coordinator in Department of Management Information Systems, Dr Mohammad Al-Hamami, Manager of Community Engagement Office and Associate Professor in Department of Management Information Systems, visited Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), and met with Mr Hamad Ibrahim Al-Shaybah, Director of Administrative Affairs.

Both parties examined the possibilities to improve the programmes offered by the College of Administrative Sciences at the academic level and Community Engagement. This visit comes to enhance the collaboration within the framework of the distinguished various academic programmes offered by the College of Administrative Sciences and the exchange of experiences for the exclusive benefit of the parties.

On Sunday, 5th March, 2023, the Community Engagement Office at Applied Science University received a delegation from the Seef Toastmasters Club, which included Engineer Younes Abdel-Aal, President of the Club, Mr. Ibrahim Shamtoot, Chairman of the Logistics Committee at the Club, and Mr. Ghaleb Al-Arabi.

A coordination meeting was held between the visiting delegation and the Manager of the Community Engagement Office, Dr. Mohammad Alaa Al-Hamami, to discuss the joint activities that it is hoped will be implemented during the coming period.

On 28th March, 2023, a delegation from Applied Science University represented by Dr. Mohamed Youssef, Vice President for Administration, Finance, and Community Engagement, Dr. Mohammad Alaa Al-Hamami, Manager of the Community Engagement Office, and Mr. Mohamed Azzam, Office Manager of the Vice President for Administration, Finance, and Community Engagement, visited the Bahrain Electronic Network for Financial Transactions (Benefit).

During the visit, a coordination meeting was held with Mr. Nizar Maarouf, Assistant General Manager of Marketing and Innovation at (Benefit) to discuss ways of joint cooperation between the university and Benefit in various fields, which include research cooperation, exchange of scientific expertise, and the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding between the two parties.

During his visit to the Information and e-Government Authority, Dr. Muhammad Yousef Ahmed, Vice President of the Applied Science University for Administration, Finance and Community Engagement, met with Dr. Zakaria Al-Khaja, Executive Vice President for Electronic Transformation in the Information and e-Government Authority, where the two parties discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation and exchange experiences, which will reflect positively on the students and graduates of the university.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohammad Alaa Al-Hamami, Manager of the Community Engagement Office at Applied Science University, Mr. Muhammad Azzam, Office Manger of the Vice President for Administration, Finance ,and Community Engagement. Dr. Munira Al-Fadil, Director of the Human and Financial Resources Department, Ms. Lulwa Sami, Director of the Communication and Marketing Department, and Mr. Muhammad Al-Kooheji, Senior Human Resources Specialist form the Information and e-Government Authority attended the meeting as well.

On 9th April, 2023, Dr. Mohamed Yousef Ahmed, Vice President of the Applied Science University for Administration, Finance, and Community Engagement, discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation between the university and the House of Representatives, on the sidelines of his visit, accompanied by a delegation from the university, to the General Secretariat of the House of Representatives, where he met Mr. Fouad Ahmed Al-Ansari, Director of the Parliamentary Studies and Training Directorate in the Secretariat . The visit aimed to consolidate bilateral relations and exchange experiences, which will reflect positively on the university's students and graduates.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohammad Alaa Al-Hamami, Manager of the Community Engagement Office at Applied Science University, and Mr. Muhammad Azzam, Office Manager of the Vice President for Administration, Finance, and Community Engagement, and from the General Secretariat of the Parliament, Ms. Rabab Abdel Wahed Al-Aradi, Head of the Parliamentary Training Department.

The university delegation was received during its visit by the university graduate, Ms. Sheikha Al-Zayed, a parliamentary training specialist at the General Secretariat of the House of Representatives.

A delegation from Applied Science University headed by Dr. Mohamed Youssef Ahmed, Vice President for Administration, Finance, and Community Engagement, accompanied by Dr. Mohamed Alaa Al-Hamami, Manager of the Community Service Office, and Mr. Mohamed Azzam, Office Managerof the Vice President for Administration, Finance, and Community Engagement, visited the General Secretariat of the Shura Council, where they met Her Excellency Mrs. Karima Muhammad Al Abbasi, Secretary General of the Shura Council. The two parties held a coordination meeting in the presence of Dr. Ali Hassan Al-Tawalbeh, Vice Chairman of the Board of Legal Advisors and Chairman of the Committee for Activating Agreements in the Council, Mr. Mohamed Adel Jamil, Director of Human Resources and Information, Mr. Youssef Marhoon, Director of Public Relations and Communication, and Ms. Faten Ali Al-Aali, Head of Research and Studies Department, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation. The joint venture, which comes as a culmination of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two parties.
