SDG3: GOOD HEALTH AND WELLBEING

SDG3 at Bahrain

Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3) aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. In Bahrain, various initiatives and policies are aligned with this goal to improve public health and healthcare access.

Healthcare System: Bahrain has a well-established healthcare system that includes both public and private sectors. The government provides universal healthcare coverage, ensuring that a wide range of medical services are accessible to all citizens. Investments in healthcare facilities and technology aim to improve service quality.

Non-Communicable Diseases: Bahrain faces challenges with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and obesity. Public health campaigns focus on raising awareness, promoting healthier lifestyles, and encouraging regular health check-ups to prevent these diseases.

Maternal and Child Health: Efforts are made to improve maternal and child healthcare services, ensuring safe pregnancies and childbirth. Programs provide prenatal and postnatal care, alongside initiatives aimed at reducing infant and maternal mortality rates.

Mental Health: There is an increasing recognition of mental health issues, with initiatives aimed at promoting mental well-being and integrating mental health services into primary healthcare. Mental health awareness campaigns are being implemented to destigmatize seeking help.

Health Education and Promotion: The government, in collaboration with various organizations, promotes health education through schools, workplaces, and community programs, focusing on healthy eating, physical activity, and preventive care.

Environmental Health: Addressing environmental factors that affect health is also part of Bahrain’s strategy. Efforts to improve air quality, water safety, and sanitation contribute to overall public health.

Response to Emergencies: Bahrain has demonstrated resilience in health emergencies, such as during the COVID-19 pandemic, by ramping up healthcare services, increasing testing, and providing vaccinations to ensure community health and safety.

Overall, Bahrain is actively working towards achieving SDG 3 through comprehensive healthcare policies, public health initiatives, and community engagement, aiming for better health outcomes for its population.
