Introduction
ASU has taken an active role in promoting the use of renewable energy sources such as solar energy. The university has installed solar panels on some of the campus buildings, reducing the overall energy consumption and cost. Additionally, ASU has introduced courses and research programs related to renewable energy and sustainability, providing students with the necessary knowledge and skills to contribute to the development of clean energy solutions.
SDG 7 focuses on ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy. This goal is critical for economic growth, social development, and environmental sustainability. ASU and the Bahraini government have made significant efforts towards achieving SDG 7 through various initiatives.
The Bahraini government has also implemented several initiatives to promote affordable and clean energy. One of these initiatives is the National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP), which aims to increase the share of renewable energy in the country's energy mix to 5% by 2025. Bahrain has also launched the Sustainable Energy Unit (SEU), which is responsible for promoting sustainable energy policies and initiatives, including the development of renewable energy projects.
