Introduction

The University is dedicated to creating an environment that promotes economic growth and provides opportunities for decent work. ASU achieves this through its academic programs, research, and collaborations with the industry. In addition to its commitment to SDG 8 and promoting economic growth and decent work, the University also has a benchmarked pay scale and benefits for its employees. ASU ensures that all staff members are paid at least and even more than the living wage. This ensures that employees are paid a fair wage that allows them to meet their needs. ASU also has an employment policy on discrimination, which is titled with equality and diversity policy. The University does not differentiate between male, and female pay scales and tracks pay scales for gender equity. This ensures that there is no discrimination based on gender and that all employees are paid fairly.

Furthermore, ASU provides its employees with annual leave, which allows them to take time off work and accommodates other leaves for personal reasons such as leaves for maternity, leaves for family related matters. In case of any complaints or grievances, ASU has an appeal process in place. Employees can refer to the staff handbook in their online portals for information on the appeal process.

The Bahraini government is also making efforts to achieve SDG 8. The government has implemented several policies and initiatives to promote economic growth and create job opportunities. These include attracting foreign investment, promoting entrepreneurship, and investing in infrastructure development. The government is also committed to promoting decent work and ensuring the rights of workers through labor laws and regulations.
